Despite today’s rally of emerging-market currencies, it is unclear if they can return to their former strength. Recent data indicate a sharper-than-expected slowdown in emerging markets, especially among large economies such as Brazil, India and China. Goldman Sachs’┬áJim O’ Neill notes that there is a rising perception that the “great BRIC economic surge has come to an end.”
