Increased supply to hit the market in 2013…

The commercial real estate market in Sao Paulo ended last year hitting a record in terms of launched properties. In 2011, 59 commercial buildings were launched, corresponding to 12,500 units, or 1.2 million square meters. These are record numbers for the business sector –  since 1985 no such volume has been seen, says a survey by Embraesp.

Last year, the total sales of newly launched units totaled R$30 billion between commercial (R$5 billion) and residential (R$24,5 billion) properties. The figure is comparable to the GDP of some countries, says specialist Luiz Paulo Pompeia.

The commercial real estate segment has never been better,” he says. He notes that in 2010, the numbers within this sector were robust, but were below 2011.
