Our friend and blogger Drunkeynesian has posted a picture of a Panettone (imported from Brazil) in a supermarket in Washingon DC (see picture below) and compared it to the same product sold in … Brazil (at Pao de Acucar), the manufacturing source.
At US$6.99 (equivalent to BR$12,20), it is cheaper than this same one found at Pao de Acucar for BR$12,99)… can anyone explain this to us?

We have posted here similar outrageous price comparisons for Coca-Cola cans, cars, airfares, scotch… it just simply confirms what we all know already: that Brazil is one of the most expensive countries in the world. Like an American friend once told me “You Brazilians must be very rich…”
