Too much Feijoada…

A study released today by the Ministry of Health indicates that overweight and obesity have increased substantially in Brazil between 2006 and 2011. According to the research, the proportion of overweight population in Brazil increased from 42.7% in 2006 to 48.5% in 2011, while the percentage of obese went from 11.4% to 15.8% in the same period.

The increase in obesity and excess weight affects both the male and the female population. In 2006, 47.2% of men and 38.5% of women were overweight, while in 2011 the proportions changed to 52.6% and 44.7%, respectively.
